Sooo...we hadn't even paid off my ER visit in December, and we had to make another trip Saturday. Kilynn was next to my bed, or on it, I didn't see the whole thing happen. And she slipped, and hit my end table perfectly (if she'd been to the left or right, it probaly would've just bruised her fave). But, she hit it right under her lip, and than had a perfect V shaped laceration. It went through, so it's also inside. She got 5 stiches on the outside, hopefully the inside will heal itself quickly. She was started on an antibiotic today, just in case. The mouth is more sensitive to infection.

My poor baby girl! She had to be strapped in, not because she was uncontrollable, but simply because that's what they do when stitching kids. The worse part was putting the numbing stuff in with the needle. She cried, but honestly, was super brave!!
When all was said and done, she mostly just wanted a band-aid because they, of course, make owies all better.
The Dr. assured me he was stitching her as he would his own kids, to prevent scarring as much as possible, though there will be a scar of some kind. He took his time which was good for Kileys face, maybe not good for her wanting it to be over with. But I'm glad he took his time making sure it was done right. They gave her a stuffed bunny at the hospital, which she in turn named Stitches.
She's doing better today...yesterday and this morning she was afraid to drink, eat or talk. Or swallow her spit, she was drooling. I'm sure her lip feels swollen, especially since it's cut inside too. But I bet she's feeling lots better tomorrow, she still won't smile much, but is laughing.

So, all this happened the day of the Father-Daughter Valentine Dance that she'd been anxiously waiting for. She still wanted to go, although I knew was was simply exhausted from the ordeal, and 4 hours at the hospital. But she went, though only lasting 20 minutes. She didn't know anyone, and got wanted to come home. I'm sure had she not gotten stitches 2 hours before, she would've been dancing and not caring if she knew anyone else.
Daddy took her for ice cream afterwards, which made her happy.
In the pictures from before they went, she's excited, not that you could tell-- remember, she was afraid to smile. ;0)
Anyway, there's our update.
and here's a cute one of Lucas, just for fun!

Oh no Kiley! I see a tear on your cheek :( I have a scar on the underneath side of my chin from when I was your age. I tried to jump from one bed to another, got my foot caught in the blankets and took a dive chin first and skid across the carpet..ripped my chin open. They didn't stitch me though..just gave me butter-fly bandages.
Getting owies is all part of growing up. People will always ask you how stitches got his name and you can tell them about the dive you took and how brave you were to get a shot and stitches on your chin! ;-)
I love you Kiley...hope you feel better soon! (((BIG HUGS!)))
Poor Kiley :( Hope she feels better soon!
